Quality Technician

POSITION TITLE:  Quality Technician, Washington, NC

Reports to:                 Quality Engineer 

 

ST Engineering Hackney, Inc. is a $145 million manufacturer of specialized aluminum drop-frame truck bodies, trailers, refrigerated truck bodies and trailers and specialty vehicle cabs. Headquartered in Washington NC, the company operates four manufacturing facilities of brands, Hackney and Kidron, in the continental United States and is owned by ST Engineering.    

JOB SUMMARY:

Quality Technician provides day to day quality support to the Washington, NC facility.  Duties include investigation of and response to customer concerns, disposition of non-conforming material, development of quality documentation, process auditing and maintaining quality records. The Quality Technician will assist with incoming inspection, final inspection and special projects.

 

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:

  1. Investigate customer concerns and document corrective and preventive actions.
  2. Provide daily assistance to production process quality concerns.
  3. Document, communicate and follow-up on supplier non-conformances.
  4. Maintain records for customer satisfaction and non-conformances.
  5. Assist with incoming, in process and final acceptance inspection functions.
  6. Complete weekly and monthly performance reports.
  7. Develop and maintain process quality standards.
  8. Maintain quality system documentation.
  9. Must be able to work some weekend hours.
  10. Promote 5S concept of order and housekeeping.
  11. Perform other duties and cross-train as required or assigned.

 

JOB QUALIFICATIONS:

  1. Must have good working knowledge of Microsoft Excel, Outlook and Word. PowerPoint knowledge is a plus. 
  2. Above average math skills and the ability to follow verbal and written instructions.
  3. Above average product knowledge.
  4. Above average communications skills to work effectively with internal team members, suppliers and customers. 
  5. Demonstrate understanding of basic quality control procedures.
  6. Ability to travel periodically to suppliers, customers and other ST Engineering facilities.
  7. Acceptable performance, attendance and safety records.

 

PHYSICAL DEMANDS:

  1. Physical fitness to perform all functions of QA inspection. This includes small tool use, full arm and leg range of motion, bend, stoop, kneel, crouch, climb and work in awkward positions, talking, hearing, work 8-10 hour shift on concrete surfaces.  
  2. Employee must be able to regularly lift and/or move up to 25lbs. frequently lift and or move up to 35lbs. and occasionally lift and/or move up to 70lbs.
  3. Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision, peripheral vision, depth perception, and the ability to adjust focus.
